Mary had always enjoyed a good ocean view, but seeing one from somewhere in the middle of it was even better. The waters were calm this night, the moonlight’s glow reflected upon it surface. Without even having to look, Mary knew the person stepping outside was her nineteen year old granddaughter, Hilary. She would recognize those footsteps anywhere. She smiled, casually raising her left hand in a quick wave to her younger counterpart.

“How do you always know it’s me?” Hilary asked, joining her grandmother by the railing.

“A grandmother’s intuition,” Mary answered with a light giggle. She finally turned to Hilary, a slight hint of surprise washing over her face. “Well don’t you look lovely tonight?” Indeed, the young woman did look extraordinary. Her golden blonde hair was pulled up and back into a tail that hung down in loose curls. Her maroon lipstick matched the color of her dress perfectly. “Not that I mind the company, Hilary, but I thought for sure you’d be enjoying the party. I know those dance hosts must be lonely without you in there.”

Hilary laughed along with her grandmother. “No, I’m sure they’re just fine. ‘Sides, they’re not my type.” Mary looked at Hilary, silently questioning her last statement. The woman had a way with silence. Hilary continued. “I’m just… not into men that way. I’m a lesbian, grandma.”

Mary raised both eyebrows in surprise, though not too much of it. “Well, there’s gonna be a lot of men with broken hearts.” She said the statement as a light joke, rather than a gesture of disapproval. There was a brief silence between them as they each turned their attention back to the distant horizon over the water. “It’s such a beautiful night.” Hilary nodded in agreement, though said nothing. Mary sighed. “You know, I was quite the curious one when I was about your age.”

Now it was Hilary’s turn to show a little surprise. “You?” she stated half as much as asked. “You were curious about other women in your younger years?” Mary did not answer verbally, but her body language confirmed that answer regardless. “You know, grandma… it’s not too late.” Hilary lifted her hand, gently running a finger through her grandmother’s hair.

“Hilary!” Mary silently scolded, though the young woman did not appear to notice.

“What?” Hilary asked, ever so casually.

“Not out on the deck!”

So it was that they returned to Hilary’s deluxe-accommodations room. It was certainly worth the expense, and included a living room, a full bath, and a bedroom. Hilary led her grandmother to the latter, stopping when they reached the foot end of the bed. Hilary took a moment to look into her grandmother’s eyes before leaning forward to kiss her. Mary did not hesitate in returning her granddaughter’s kiss, only returned it. Hilary pulled the band from her hair and pulled away from Mary just long enough to shake her hair loose. When she brought her lips back to her grandmother, she reached around for the zipper of her dress at the base of her back.

At this, Mary protested, but only a little. “Hilary, please,” she said softly, almost whispering. “My body isn’t what it used to be.”

“You’re face has held up pretty well,” Hilary pointed out.

“You haven’t seen me naked.”

Hilary could not resist laughing at that one. However, she pulled her grandmother’s zipper back up the inch she managed to move it earlier. “Alright,” she agreed. “I’ll let you have this dignity.” She kissed Mary again lightly. “My body, however, is dynamite. Feel free to strip it.”

Mary was more than happy to oblige. With the gentlest touch of her fingers, she slid the spaghetti straps from her granddaughter’s shoulders and pulled the top of the dress down, revealing Hilary’s C size breasts.
